Lenovo ideapad g780 networking problems
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 from a USB on my laptop. I didn't have internet access when I first installed it however, so I selected "I don't want to connect to a wi-fi network right now" and continued with the installation. Later, I wanted to connect to my home network, so I tried installing the proprietary driver "Broadcom STA wireless driver" as recommended by the system after failing to connect to any network, either wireless or wired. After the installation completed, my computer still can't connect wirelessly and no options are even given to connect via Ethernet.
I am fairly new to Ubuntu and have no terminal experience aside from using the bash for windows git interface. I gleaned from looking through other forums that the output from several commands may be of use, so I'm including them below:
